Watta Nutty Family

We spent the day yesterday at the National Zoo with our good friends Greg (Grandpa) and Connie. On the way there we got to do some drive by siteseeing of things like the Washington Monument. Doesn't it look great? Notice the overcast sky - the rain held out all day for us!

Fortunately for us Greg has good connections and was able to get us tickets to view the baby panda.



I can't prove it, but I'm sure those people in the background did not have tickets for the baby panda.








The kids were happy that parts of the zoo had gone to the birds.















As you can see, Mami Nutt was shocked to learn that babies don't get delivered by a stork.

























This was my personal favorite, whoever can identify the animal from this picture of it's backside wins a prize. (Greg will happily use his "connection" to provide us with another set of panda tickets) Go ahead and put your guesses in the comments section!














Little D was adopted into the family after feeding them potato chips. Who knew that Gorilla's were such fans of barbecue?















It was a long day. We left the house at 8:00, and didn't get home until after 10:00(PM). The zoo is hilly, and double strollers are pretty heavy by the end of the day. (By the way Greg - there is already a patent for a motorized stroller.) Anyway - it is all worth it when you get a smile like this in return.

We don't teach the kids how to smile until they turn 2. 

I got my ears pierced today. It hurt alot, and I cried (but I got over it). Daddy says to remember that it was Mami Nutt holding me down and not him.

This is a terrific story that for some reason I hadn't heard about: "Warship built out of Twin Towers wreckage":

[A] ship has begun to rise from the ashes of the September 11 terrorist attacks. Bringing together America’s two great calamities of the 21st century, the USS New York is being built in New Orleans with 24 tonnes of steel taken from the collapsed World Trade Centre.

[T]he girders taken from Ground Zero have been treated with a reverence usually accorded to religious relics. After a brief ceremony in 2003, about seven tonnes of steel were melted down and poured into a cast to make the bow section of the ship’s hull.

Some shipworkers say the hairs stood up on the backs of their necks the first time they touched it. Others have postponed their retirement so they can be part of the project.

One worker, Tony Quaglino, said: “I was going to go in October 2004 after 40 years here, but I put it off when I found out I could be working on New York. This is sacred and it makes me very proud.”

The USS New York will be a 684-foot-long amphibious assault vehicle that can land up to 700 Marines pretty much anywhere. Two more ships of the same class are scheduled to join the USS New York in the Navy: the USS Arlington, named for the location of the Pentagon, and USS Somerset, in memory of Somerset County, Pennsylvania, where the passengers crashed United Flight 93."

The Nutty residence is now officially under contract. Everything keeps falling right into place for us to move into our new house (Thanks be to God). Right now it looks like we will be homeless for a couple of weeks in between houses, so we will only be reachable by our cell phone.
