Our phone number is the same as it was.  Our phone is hooked up.  This has been a crazy week for us, we have got no work done on the house.  I’ve been working very long days, and the Nutty family has been at VBS and other activities.

Bad news – Good news

The bad news is that the wireless is not available.  So we will be dialing up to the world wide web for now.  The good news is that the wireless broadband company is expanding into our neck of the woods.  They expect to have service out there by years end (I hope he meant this year).

So, we should be back online tomorrow once I remember how to set up dialup internet.

Basically a guy started a blog offering to “trade” a paperclip for something better.  His first offer was for a fish pen, and he took it.  14 trades and one year later he met his goal and accepted an offer for a house!  So the guy actually traded up from a paperclip to a house in 1 year – pretty neat.

As Sister Nutty noted below, our posting on the blog has been very infrequent.  This is largely due to the fact that we have NO INTERNET CONNECTION!

Isn’t that awful?  I really don’t know how we are surviving.  I know I have been going through major withdrawals.  The side effects are visible and ugly.

Hopefully we can remedy this situation soon.  Our options are very limited in our new house; let’s review (in my preferred order).

1)       DSL – NOT AVAILABLE!

2)       Cable – NOT AVAILABLE!

3)       Wireless – this is possibly available, the local provider should be coming to the house today to test for signal strength.

4)       Shared connection with neighbor – Our neighbor has offered for us to share their Satellite internet via wireless between the houses.  This sounds great, but due to obstructions and the distance between houses the installation would be pricey.  Of course splitting the Satellite cost per month is attractive.

5)       Satellite modem – This is the most expensive option – Ouch

6)       Dialup – Apparently this still exists, I thought the last provider went out of business a few years ago.  I’ve learned that many “country folk” have to live with this option everyday.  We are learning that life moves slower in the country.  Apparently our house is further in the country than WEEDVILLE, PA!

7)       Cell phone modem – This option I tested last night and found that it works.  After more testing I will know if this is faster or slower than standard dialup (it depends on the service).  I suspect mine will be slower.

If you know of any other options I should check into, let me know.  The bottom line is, it looks like my days of playing “Americas Army” with MarkyS are probably over (unless the Wireless signal is good).

We have received so much help this weekend on the house, we can’t even begin to thank everyone.  What a blessing…..  Our new house is well on it’s way to being our home.
