Interesting website
Spend some time checking out "Roadside America". It has a cool use of google maps, where you can do a search for an area of the country, and it shows you "off the beaten trail" type places nearby.
For example when I searched for Ridgway, PA I found out that there is a "Tom Mix comes home" museum in Driftwood. I have never heard of Tom Mix, but his outhouse looks worth visiting!
Or you can find out that the next time you go to Pittsburgh to visit good friends, you will only be 22 miles away from 1 of the 12 "Madonna of the Trails" statues in the U.S.!
